Australia vs Netherlands 18th June 5pm- Both teams to score

Tim Cahill and the Socceroos face their toughest test on Wednesday, entering an essential must-win game against the Netherlands. After falling to Chile in their opening game last Friday, Australia needs three points to realistically keep their dreams of advancing out of the group alive. In Australia’s first game, the Red Bull star scored in vintage-Cahill style, powering home a header that cut his team’s deficit to 2-1 late in the first half. Despite turning the momentum in their favor, Australia couldn’t find an equalizer and eventually fell 3-1.

The Netherlands are coming off arguably the most impressive performance in the 2014 World Cup so far, dismantling defending World Cup champion Spain 5-1 in their first game in group stage.

Australia will want to improve on their previous fixture against Chile and would require to win Netherlands if they would want to have a chance of qualification to the  next round. That would actually be a tall mountain to climb on a high spirited team that just thrashed the World Cup Champions. Netherlands will actually not rest their oars with the knowledge that just a win will send them to the next round. It's left for Australia to fight back but I see them netting at least once here.

Verdict: Both teams to score
